It may take a trillion years, but with a Game Boy you can generate Bitcoin. StackSmashing converted a Game Boy into a Bitcoin miner. It’s not very fast, because the current technology for generating Bitcoin works 125 billion times faster than this Game Boy…

Stacksmashing uses a real, classic, unmodified Game Boy to create a true Bitcoin mining machine. The handheld console has a blazingly fast 4.19 megahertz processor and 8 kilobytes of video memory. Compare that to a modern console, for example the Xbox Series X with a 3.8 gigahertz CPU and 16 GB of video memory. Practically no difference!

He still needs a few accessories to make the whole thing work. He writes his own code for the Game Boy, uses a Raspberry Pi to connect the console to a PC and a special USB flash drive in the game slot. After all, the Game Boy does not support the Internet and blockchain and the Internet are fundamentally linked. And yes, in the end Stacksmashing manages to get the impressive project off the ground!
